Vanessa Burton

BA Psychology

Vanessa is currently completing her Masters of Counselling at Monash University, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Murdoch University in 2019. Prior to that, she completed a Diploma in Counselling at Kaplan Higher Education Institute in 2017.

Vanessa provides individual therapy for adults seeking support with a range of issues including depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harm, stress, family dysfunction, relationship breakdowns, and interpersonal problems. To build a strong working relationship with her clients, Vanessa uses a person-centered approach and draws from a range of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance, and Commitment Therapy and uses mindfulness techniques. Vanessa is experienced in working with individual clients from different cultural and religious backgrounds.

Alongside her studies, Vanessa volunteers at a local organisation, providing telephone counselling support to people in crisis and in need of emotional support.

Originally from the UK and raised in Cornwall, Vanessa moved with her family to Singapore at the start of 2014. She understands the pressures faced by expatriate families and third culture children.
