Vanessa Burton

Vanessa BurtonVanessa provides counselling for individual adults and couples. Her approach is non-judgemental and she draws from the therapeutic models best suited to the challenges faced by her clients. She works collaboratively with clients to make meaningful and lasting changes to their lives.

She works across a range of problems including depression, anxiety and panic attacks, low self-esteem, stress, relationship and interpersonal issues and those wanting to improve their work/life balance. Her passion is working with couples to help them deepen their emotional connection and enrich the quality of their relationships by learning better ways to communicate and express their needs.

Vanessa is experienced in supporting clients from different cultural and religious backgrounds through her volunteer work in the local community. Originally from the UK, Vanessa moved to Singapore in 2014 and understands the pressures faced by expatriate families.

She holds a Masters of Counselling from Monash University, Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (with a minor in Neuroscience) from Murdoch University, Perth. She is trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy Levels 1 and 2, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Level 1, Schema Therapy Level 1, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She completed training in Working with Trauma Survivors in 2019 and attended the Mental Health Academy’s Suicide Prevention Summit in 2020.

Vanessa is a member of the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC).
