Jac Lawler

PP Dip (transactional analysis), HND RN, Cert (Solution Focused Therapy)

Jac is a UK trained Counsellor and Mental Health nurse with 30 years of experience working in mental health. His promise is to provide a confidential, safe and professional space to support the client through their journey, and to help each person move forward to where they want to be in their life. He can provide counselling both in person and online.

Having lived in the UK, Australia and Singapore, Jac has first-hand experience of expatriate life. In Australia he worked with children and families at the Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital in the Banksia inpatient unit and in Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre (EPPIC) working with young people with psychotic disorders. In the past few years, he has been a Senior Mental Health Practitioner for NHS secondary and primary mental health services in Oxford, and has practiced in, developed and managed counselling services in Oxford city.

When working with clients managing change, Jac uses Transactional Analysis with a relational and health-based approach that focuses on building trust with his clients to;
• Help them share their experience.
• Make clear plans for positive change.
• Work on the development of existing and new skills & strengths for an improved quality of life in both the present and the future.

Jac is registered with the British Association for Cognitive and Psychotherapy (BACP) and was trained in Oxford UK. He is a qualified Mental Health nurse who trained at University College London. He is also trained and qualified in Transactional Analysis (TA) counselling, crisis work, group work, Solution Focused Therapy and addictions.

Jac’s interests and clinical experience, working with adults and older children, include:
• Relational issues including communication, divorce, parenting, conflict resolution.
• Emotional issues including anxiety, depression, grief/loss, guilt, anger management.
• Stress reduction/management, time management, transition.
• Crisis management and support.
• Self-harm and suicidal ideation.
• Addiction issues.
• Personal growth.

Jac provides counselling across flexible hours that include after school/office hours and weekends.
