Joanna trained as a clinical psychologist at University College London (UCL) and has more than 10 years of experience working with adults with emotional and mental health problems. She works with a range of problems such as stress, bereavement, self-harm, relationship and adjustment issues; as well as disorders such as depression (including post-natal depression), anxiety, addiction, psychosis, bipolar disorder and personality disorder. She has extensive experience working with anger, violence and other offending behaviours.
Joanna provides psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions to adults and adolescents. Her therapeutic approach is primarily Cognitive-Behaviour therapy but she draws on a number of other approaches including Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
In London Joanna spent seven years working for the National Health Service, and working with secondary and specialist mental health care services in both community and inpatient settings. Since moving to Singapore in 2013, Joanna has lectured at James Cook University, becoming a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology in 2018. In addition to teaching psychological assessment and methods of intervention, she provides supervision to clinical psychologists in training on placements in private and public health care settings.
Joanna is a UK Registered Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). She is also a Registered Psychologist with the Singapore Psychological Society.
