Tenghui is a therapist-in-training who believes in building a safe and secure therapeutic relationship with his clients through a person-centred and collaborative approach. Through this connection, he believes in supporting and journeying together with his clients to find their strength and abilities to overcome their challenges.
Tenghui has experience with a range of issues clients face including depression, anxiety, stress, childhood trauma, family disconnection, sexual orientation, gender identity and difficulty with substance use. In providing a safe space for his clients to explore, he aims to help them begin to heal.
He is currently certified in Choice Theory, Reality Therapy (CTRT) and Lead-Management (L1; L2-ongoing). CTRT believes that only the individual themselves holds the key to change, and in using the CTRT approach, he helps his clients to evaluate their choices and actions that helps to meet their unmet needs and foster better relationships. In addition, he also draws on other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to better help his clients.
Prior to embarking on his journey for counselling, Tenghui was a practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine Physician at a local charity organisation. He spent 8 years of studying and training to obtain qualifications in TCM. The experience enabled him to encounter people from all walks of life, and eventually to pursue a model of care that emphasises overall well-being. The communication skills used to relate to his patients are also invaluable in his current work as a counsellor.
Tenghui speaks English and Mandarin and is available for both in-person and virtual sessions.
